Beyond Fistula Programme

Beyond Fistula

Beyond fistula is a non-profit organization in Kenya.
The organization started in 2011 by the founder Dr .Debbie Matityahu when they visited Kenya for the first time at Gynocare Women’s and Fistula hospital in Eldoret led by the CEO of Gynocare women’s & Fistula Hospital Dr. Hillary Mabeya who does most of the constructive fistula surgeries.

It was apparent that the women needed help after physical recovery and healing to help in establishment of their financial stability, job and re-building their lives since most of the women who have suffered from fistula face a lot of challenges. The HELP is to ease their reintegration back to the community regardless of the challenges they have gone through.

These challenges include; stigmatization from the society, rejection from the family members including their own husbands. Young girls most of whom forced to drop out of school ending up in early marriages due to the practice of retrogressive cultures.
The organization operated under the name ‘a little 4 a lot’ before becoming Beyond Fistula in 2016. Beyond Fistula program Expanded into learning choices for the women and girls that include:
Vocational Training
Beyond fistula offers different courses under vocational training depending on the individual fistula survivor’s choice.
Majority of vocational trainers are either primary drop outs or secondary drop outs who cant go back to the formal education after fistula treatment.
